Our Story
Suspiro was born from a lifelong love of baking, one that ran in Andrea's family long before she ever thought to start her own project.
Andrea was born in Lima, Peru, and moved to South Florida at the age of six. Although she grew up in Florida, Peru never left her kitchen. Her grandmother, Maria Teresa Echecopar, built a career out of nothing but talent and sheer will, baking and catering events across Lima for decades. She was successful enough to cater the wedding of one of Peru's most celebrated chefs, Gastón Acurio.
As a child, Andrea's favorite ritual was simple: sitting in a Lima coffee shop with her grandmother, aunts, and cousins, talking for hours over pastries and coffee. It was there, listening to their stories, that she fell for Peruvian sweets. Her order never changed. Suspiro limeño, a dessert of manjar blanco topped with a delicate meringue and a dusting of cinnamon, named for what it's said to draw out of you: a sigh.
The name stuck for a reason. Suspiro is Andrea's way of carrying her grandmother's legacy forward, and of recreating those afternoons: a coffee, something sweet, and people worth sitting with a little longer.
